In GameTheoryCast 28, Soulz and TLChicken talk to Serellan LLC founder Christian Allen about their game in development – Takedown. Christian explains what he has been up to since we last spoke with him back on Cast 15. Christian also outlines what happened after the Takedown Kickstarter campaign succeeded, where they are in the development process, some of the design choices they have made, and some of the issues that the development team has encountered in the development of Takedown. The choice of engine is explained as well as some discussion on the latest level walk-through video.
Here are some screenshots of the level from the video – Biolab
The team at Serellan have been doing regular updates on Takedown over at their Developer Blog. Here are the latest 3 Developer Blogs.
This isn’t the first time we have interviewed Christian. We spoke with Christian on GameTheoryCast 15 in the early stages of his kickstarter campaign, back before it even had a name.
ABOUT SERELLAN LLC
Serellan LLC is an indie games studio located in Bothell, WA, focusing on tactical shooters. Headed by industry vet Christian Allen, whose credits include the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Halo: Reach, Serellan is made up of teammates with experience at companies including Ubisoft, Red Storm Entertainment, Microsoft, Bungie, Day 1 Studios, and Zipper Interactive. Serellan’s current project is TAKEDOWN, a realistic squad-based tactical CQB shooter that was one of the first major game projects to be funded on Kickstarter.
ABOUT TAKEDOWN
A thinking-person’s shooter. The player that takes things slow, aims carefully, and plans their moves right will overcome the player who runs in with guns blazing. Close-quarters battle brings the fight inside, as you would see SWAT teams or SOF units taking down small numbers of dangerous adversaries. Non-linear environments allow for multiple routes and tactics and add replayability. The operation to clear pirates from a hijacked oil tanker by Russian special forces in May of 2010 is a perfect example of the types of missions in TAKEDOWN.
